Temple of Heaven

The Temple of Heaven is a 3 tier building with its splendid circular caisson ceiling with a gilded dragon and phoenix at its centre. The structure is made entirely of wood without using one nail. Completed in the ming Dynasty the temple of heaven more correctly know as Tian Tan is one of the largest temple complexes in China. The Temple of heaven is situated in a large a peaceful park that is used by the locals for tai ji quan.

The temple of heaven stands 125 ft high with blue roof tiles that represents the colour of heaven, the circlar roof symbolizes the sky. with the base being red in colour means imperial.

The Tian  Tan Complex

The main parts of the temple complex are all connected on the favoured north/south axis  by an elevated pathway. The round alter is made up of concentric rings of stone slabs in multiples of 9 and the circular echo wall is famed for its ability to carry a whisper from one side to another.

As you can see on the images the Temple of Heaven one of Beijing attractions had just been re painted, and looked stunning almost like new with its vivid colours and outstanding design, i was so lucky to get a clear shot of this amazing place however it was very early and -15 with a beautiful clear sky winters day, I would recomend taking a English speaking Beijing travel guided tour to see the sights.
