The Bund, Shanghai

Visiting the Bund in Shanghai is like stepping back in time, the bund used to be know  ”Zhongshan Lu” and is amazing to see. Shanghai is a city a two half’s divided by the river on one side you have the futuristic  part called the Pudong and and the other it’s the bund, dating back to its colonial hey day with many symbols of western power the old buildings still standing.

Why not take a slow walk down Shanghai’s river promenade on the bund side this way you can get to admire the history while looking over the bay at the amazing views of pudong.

The bund has some of Shanghai’s greats buildings like Customs House, Former bank of Communications, Russo-Asiatic Bank Building, Former Bank of Taiwan, North China Daily news building, Former Palace Hotel, Peace Hotel and the Bank of China.

Best time to visit the Bund is late afternoon/evening where you can get a great view of the old building in daylight then as the night sky comes in you get a great view of the city lights of Pudong.

I recommend taking the underground tram that goes under the river to Pudong or vies-versa it’s a slow ride through a tunnel of coloured lights it’s a great bit of fun.
